Tracking Device Selection

UniGlobe supports many popular tracking devices for different needs. Our connect guide helps you select a device that is suitable for your tracking business. Common tracking devices include:

• Personal trackers: Small portable units with GPS and Internet connectivity
• Vehicle mounted trackers: Units for fixed mounting in vehicles. In addition to positioning they also handle vehicle status messages

Map Support

You can use both Google Maps and your own custom maps in your tracking solution. Google Maps are great if you want general maps with good coverage, whereas Custom Maps are preferred if you have specific requirements.

Google Maps:

• have good coverage over most parts of the world
• are offered as a service managed and updated by Google
• require a Google Maps agreement. This is handled by us if you have a UniGlobe Subscription. If you install your own Server by UniGlobe  you require your own Google Maps agreement
  Custom Maps:

• allows you to import your own maps into your tracking solution
• gives you the flexibility to create / change / update your maps as you wish
• UniGlobe supports most common map projections (aerial, nautical, local, etc.)

Implementation Options

You can either subscribe to a UniGlobe Server tracking solution or install your own UniGlobe Server. Main features for the two implementation options are listed in the table below.

Note: You can start with the UniGlobe Subscription and migrate it to a UniGlobe Server installation when your customer base grows.
